Mixing Efficiency for Breaking Internal Solitary Waves

We propose a semi-analytic approach to estimate mixing induced by internal solitary waves (ISWs) breaking over sloping boundary. The theoretical framework we develop describes the energetics of stratified fluid flow during interaction ISWs with slope. In particular, through both Ozmidov and Thorpe lengthscales derive heuristic expression for efficiency, valid plunging plunging-collapsing breakers. On other hand, perform laboratory experiments that also provide efficiency estimating changes background potential energy incident reflected energy. then compare those results ones derived our model, obtaining power law relates two quantities. This function allows when change in due is unknown. finally successfully apply model under real field conditions.
